A new organisation called Women in Journalism Scotland is about to launch. WiJ Scotland will be a networking, campaigning, training and social organisation for women journalists who work across all the written, broadcast and new media in Scotland.
WiJ Scotland intends to hold a launch party in central Glasgow at the beginning of November and then organise events throughout the year.
WiJ Scotland wants to get as many women as possible involved and will use the launch party as an opportunity to hear ideas about what members would like to get from the organisation. How about masterclasses on negotiating pay rises and promotions or the ever-tricky subject of work life balance? Tell WiJ Scotland what sort of speakers might inspire and inform and what sort of social events might attract a crowd.
WiJ Scotland is already lucky enough to have secured sponsorship from EY, a company that is hot on mentoring and supporting women in business to reach their potential. Let’s see if WiJ Scotland can help do the same for Women in Journalism!
More details to follow on the launch party. In the meantime, feel free to contact Shelley Jofre with any ideas on firstname.lastname@example.org
