A women-only workshop on freedom of information, fact-checking and feminism is being held by NUJ Scotland in partnership with The Ferret and Women in Journalism Scotland to equip more women to submit FOI requests and carry out factchecks.

  • Leading investigative journalist Rob Edwards of The Ferret will run a workshop on how to submit freedom of information requests and how to challenge refusals.
  • Expert factchecker Ali Brian of The Ferret Fact Service (FFS) will show how to fact check and spot fake news.
  • Fiona Davidson, women’s project worker with the NUJ Scotland project – A Stronger Voice for Women in the Media – will then lead a discussion about what women want in the media.

The workshop is being staged to address the shortage of women with expertise in freedom of information as part of the Stronger Voice for Women in the Media project.

It is open to journalists, PR/comms, campaigns and charity/third sector workers and those with an interest in FOI, factchecking and women’s representation.

Sign up for the workshop at NUJ Scotland’s Glasgow office on Monday 15 January 2018 via Eventbrite – cost £20.
